What we do
A bit about the PTA
We are a registered charity that aims to support the school in a number of ways.
Our charity objectives are to:
Develop more extended relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school.
Engage in activities that support and advance the education of the pupils attending school.
Provide and assist in the provision of facilities for education at the school (not normally provided by the Education Authority).
We aim to meet these objectives in a number of different ways.
Developing relationships
Each year we host a number of events, for children and their families to be involved in. These provide a fundraising opportunity and also time for the children and their families to build memories around school.
The school disco is always a hit, the teachers like to get involved too, and it's great to see everyone letting their hair down and having a good time.
During the Mother's and Father's Day Gift Shops, it's great to see the time spent by children picking the perfect present for their loved one, there is always lots of conversation in the room.
The Summer Fayre last year was also opened up to the local community, seeing everyone on the field together in the sun having fun was great.
Keep an eye on our social media, the school newsletter and this page for more details on upcoming events.
Supporting the education of pupils
The charity trustees work closely with the school to ensure the funds raised are used to support the education of pupils. We will always endeavour to spend funds in ways to benefit all children across the school.
Outdoor learning is a big objective of the school at the moment, as such we are working closely to improve this provision as we feel it is an excellent way to enable students to get out of the classroom and hands on in nature.
Raising Money
Our charity objectives cannot be fulfilled without the raising of money. This will support the school with equipment and projects, big and small, enabling the pupils time at Nursling to be enriched.
There are a number of ways to get involved in fundraising for the PTA. You could do a sponsored event in our name, attend the events we put on and spend your money, get involved with volunteering and see if your employer will match fund, use easyfundraising for your online shopping to passively add to our fundraising pot.
Easyfundraising
Either shop through the easyfundraising app or their website, select the retailer you are using and then it will re-direct you to their site. You shop as normal and then a donation is made on your behalf to the PTA. Easy as that!
Search for Friends of Nursling Primary School Association.
My Nametags
If you are buying labels for school uniform through MyNametags.com you can use the school ID code to raise some money.
ID code: 33708
Clothes recycling
We now have a clothing bank, that you can add your donations too. This is located in the staff car park.
More information can be found on this website, including what can and cannot be recycled.
For each kilogram of items the PTA get a donation of 30p.
What we spend the money on
Here are a few things we have supported in the past.
Musical instruments
These are still in the playground today and used by the children at break times.
School Allotment
We have provided resources for the allotment, that aids the children's outdoor learning.
Cosy Cabin
This is used as part of outdoor learning, we are hoping to expand the use of this with our current project.
Christmas Disco
The Christmas disco each year is funded by the PTA, so all children get to have a bit of fun before breaking up for Christmas.
Year 6 Leavers
Each year we support the Year 6 leavers celebration by donating £500 to the class.
Castle
The castle looks great in the playground and the children love to have time to play out on it.
Sport Equipment
New sports equipment has been purchased for use at break times. The children were asked what they would like, whilst we couldn't stretch to a zipline, we hope they have fun.
Picnic Benches
These lovely new benches made from recycled plastic will eventually be living in the memorial garden, but for the time being feel free to have a little sit down at school pick up.
Coronation Gift
All the children and staff received a bookmark to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III.
Buddy Benches
These two brightly coloured benches can be found outside and provide a focal point for those who need a bit more help and support at breaktime.
How to get involved
Although we are known as the PTA, we are actually a 'Friends of Group' which means anyone with a connection to the school can be involved.
We run regular meetings to plan events, discuss how to spend the money raised and come up with new ideas. The meetings are normally held in the morning after drop off, anyone is more than welcome to attend.
Please check out our contact page for ways to get in touch.
