What we do

What we're all about..

We are a registered charity, run by a team of volunteers, with one simple aim: to support and enhance our school community and make school life even better for our children.

Our charity objectives are to:

Bring people together – building positive relationships between staff, parents, carers and everyone connected with the school.
Support learning – organising activities and initiatives that enrich and support the education of our pupils.
Enhance the school experience – helping to provide facilities, resources and opportunities that support our children’s education and aren’t normally provided by the Education Authority.

We bring these objectives to life in lots of different ways throughout the year – from fundraising and events to supporting school projects and creating opportunities for our school community to get together.

Every contribution, big or small, helps us make a difference.

Events, Fun & Making Memories

Throughout the year, we run a range of events for children and their families to enjoy. They’re a great way to raise funds for the school, but just as importantly, they give everyone a chance to get together, have some fun and make those all-important school memories.

🎉 School Disco
A firm favourite every year! The children love hitting the dance floor – and the teachers often get involved too! It’s brilliant to see everyone letting their hair down, showing off their best moves and having a great time.

🎁 Mother’s & Father’s Day Gift Shops
There’s always plenty of excitement (and some very serious decision-making!) as the children choose the perfect gift for someone special. The gift shops are a lovely opportunity for children to pick something themselves, with lots of chat and smiles along the way.

☀️ Summer Fayre
Our Summer Fayre is a highlight of the year. Last year, we opened the event up to the wider local community, filling the school field with families, friends, sunshine and plenty of fun. We’re looking forward to doing it all again!

Making a difference

Our charity trustees work closely with the school to make sure the money we raise is put to good use and directly supports our pupils’ education.

We always aim to fund projects, resources and opportunities that benefit as many children across the school as possible, helping to make their time at school even more enjoyable and enriching.

🌿 Outdoor learning is a particular focus for the school at the moment, and we’re excited to be working together to develop this area. We believe that learning doesn’t always have to happen inside a classroom! Getting children outdoors, hands-on and connected with nature can provide fantastic opportunities to learn, explore and develop new skills.

We’re looking forward to seeing how this grows and, with the support of our school community, helping to make outdoor learning an even bigger part of school life.

Every Little Bit Helps

Fundraising is at the heart of what we do. The money we raise allows us to support the school with equipment, resources and projects – both big and small – helping to make the children’s time at Nursling even more enriching.

There are lots of ways to get involved, and you don’t need to be a fundraising expert!

🏃 Take on a challenge
Fancy doing a sponsored run, walk, swim or something completely different? You can raise money for the PTA by taking on your own challenge and fundraising in our name.

🎉 Come along to our events
Join in the fun at our PTA events. Whether you’re buying a cake, taking part in an activity or enjoying a cuppa, your spending helps to boost our fundraising total.

🙋 Volunteer
Got a little time to spare? We’re always grateful for an extra pair of hands. Helping out at an event is a great way to get involved, meet other parents and support the school at the same time.

💷 Ask your employer about match funding
Some employers will match charitable fundraising or donations made by their employees. It’s always worth asking – your fundraising could potentially go twice as far!

🛍️ Shop online with easyfundraising
You can raise money for the PTA without spending anything extra. Simply sign up to easyfundraising and, when you shop with participating retailers, they’ll make a small donation to our PTA at no extra cost to you.

Every pound raised helps us provide more opportunities, resources and experiences for the children at Nursling. Thank you for being part of it!

Easyfundraising

Either shop through the easyfundraising app or their website, select the retailer you are using and then it will re-direct you to their site. You shop as normal and then a donation is made on your behalf to the PTA. Easy as that!

If you are buying labels for school uniform through MyNametags.com you can use the school ID code to raise some money.

Clothes recycling

We now have a clothing bank, that you can add your donations too. This is located in the staff car park.

More information can be found on this website, including what can and cannot be recycled.

For each kilogram of items the PTA get a donation of 30p.

What we spend the money on

Here are a few things we have supported in the past.

Musical instruments

These are still in the playground today and used by the children at break times.

School Allotment

We have provided resources for the allotment, that aids the children's outdoor learning.

Cosy Cabin

This is used as part of outdoor learning, we are hoping to expand the use of this with our current project.

Christmas Disco

The Christmas disco each year is funded by the PTA, so all children get to have a bit of fun before breaking up for Christmas.

Year 6 Leavers

Each year we support the Year 6 leavers celebration by donating £500 to the class.

Castle

The castle looks great in the playground and the children love to have time to play out on it.

Sport Equipment

New sports equipment has been purchased for use at break times. The children were asked what they would like, whilst we couldn't stretch to a zipline, we hope they have fun.

Picnic Benches

These lovely new benches made from recycled plastic will eventually be living in the memorial garden, but for the time being feel free to have a little sit down at school pick up.

Coronation Gift

All the children and staff received a bookmark to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III.

Outdoor learning area (1)

The outdoor space was looking a little wild, with lots of work it has been transformed into a useful space. We have also been able to include a memorial garden too.

Buddy Benches

These two brightly coloured benches can be found outside and provide a focal point for those who need a bit more help and support at breaktime.

The outdoor learning area has been further expanded with the addition of a wonderful wooden gazebo, this means come rain or shine the children can use this space.

Spiritual Garden

The spiritual garden will extended the outdoor learning space. Providing a place for reflection and also more outdoor learning.

Young Voices

The school choir got to perform as part of the Young Voices choir at the O2 in London. The PTA part funded their travel to the event.

How to get involved

Although we are known as the PTA, we are actually a 'Friends of Group' which means anyone with a connection to the school can be involved.

We run regular meetings to plan events, discuss how to spend the money raised and come up with new ideas. The meetings are normally held in the morning after drop off, anyone is more than welcome to attend.
